About Tun Sa-Mai

“Chakra” is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. The Chakras are energy centers that permeate from a physical point on the body and are associated with physical, mental, and emotional interactions.

Root:

Muladhara. Purpose: Kinesthetic feelings and movement. Through this Chakra, we learn lessons from social order and the material world. The Root is the grounding force that allows us to connect to the earth’s energies, and brings us “down to earth.”

Sacral:

Swadhisthana. Purpose: Emotional connection. This Chakra promotes creativity, manifestation, honoring relationships, and learning to “let go.” The Sacral Chakra often offers us the opportunity to lessen our "control issues" and find a balance in our lives, teaching us to recognize that acceptance and rejection are not the only options in our relationships. A well-functioning second chakra helps one to maintain a healthy yin-yang existence.

Solar Plexus:

Manipura. Purpose: Mental understanding of emotional life. The Solar Plexus promotes acceptance of your place in the life stream, or self love. This Chakra helps us define our self esteem. A closed third chakra exhibits a hardship in obtaining or maintaining “personal power.” In the Solar Plexus lies our “gut instinct.” Strong self-esteem is required for developing intuitive skills.

Heart:

Anahata. Purpose: Emotional empowerment. A healthy fourth chakra exhibits forgiveness, unconditional love, trust, and compassion. Learning to love yourself in a non-egotistical way is the first step in securing a healthy fourth chakra. It is through the Heart Chakra that we develop attachments to those we love, and because the feelings of love and trust are so complex, it is through this chakra that we experience physical pain, or heartache, when a loved one is lost. This Chakra is also the home of other virtuous feelings such as joy, happiness, honesty, and respect.

Throat:

Vishuddha. Purpose: Learning to take responsibility for one’s own needs. The degree of health of the fifth chakra is in direct relation with how honestly one expresses themselves, because untruthfulness violates the body and spirit. Not speaking out can manifest as repressed anger. Through the throat chakra, we seek all truthful information, and absorb that information through the five senses.

Third Eye:

Ajna. Purpose: Action of ideas, insight, and mind development. The Third Eye is the insight of wisdom; the ability to learn through experiences, and put them into perspective. A healthy Third Eye separates reality from delusion. The sixth chakra exhibits open-mindedness, emotional intelligence, and concept of reality.

Crown:

Sahasrara. Purpose: Integration of the other Chakras, intuitive knowing, and connection to one’s spirituality. Through the Crown, we live through the NOW. We learn of purpose, identity, selflessness, humanitarianism, inspiration, value, and ethics through the seventh chakra.
